Parts of your GM car might come from recycled water bottles — thanks to Unifi
Press Release | September 26, 2017
After the Flint, Michigan water disaster, GM came up with a way to put those millions of plastic bottles that were piling up in the Flint landfills to good use. The car company contacted Unifi, and together, GM and Unifi made a plan to transport plastic bottles from Flint to Unifi's facility in Greensboro, North Carolina. Unifi recycles the bottles into REPREVE fiber that can be used in car parts and air filters, so the millions of plastic bottles that started in Flint could end up back in the same town for use in cars and GM facilities.
