In April 2024, our post-consumer recycled polyester (rPET) flake reached a milestone when the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed its food contact applicability with a No Objection Letter (NOL) (recycle number 336). We’re proud to share that our rPET flake produced in the United States is confirmed for the exact same usage conditions as virgin polyester (PET), under Conditions of Use C through H. With this parity to virgin application, UNIFI rPET product application expands the availability of recycled materials for use across various food packaging needs, from hot-filled and pasteurized containers to frozen food storage.
