For over 50 years, outdoor clothing and gear specialist Marmot is known for pushing boundaries—both in high-spec products and sustainable design.

The Partnership

Marmot has partnered with REPREVE® for several years, and in 2025, the brand was recognized with a Commitment to Circularity honor in the REPREVE Champions of Sustainability awards.


Kelvin Meeks, Senior Raw Materials Specialist, says. “When we work with suppliers, they must meet our exacting quality and performance standards. But we never stop there. The Opportunity

For its Summer 2025 collection, Marmot aimed to expand the use of recycled materials in its popular Windridge collection. The challenge? Embed deeper sustainability into the product’s DNA without compromising on durability, technical performance or feel. 

The Solution
Marmot solution
Marmot’s team turned to REPREVE® — performance polyester made from 100% post-consumer plastic bottles. 

REPREVE yarns are engineered to such a high standard that Marmot was able to layer in additional performance technologies such as moisture wicking and UPF 50 protection.

The Product

The Windridge tees and hoodies, made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, are quick-drying, and sweat-wicking.

At UPF 50, they allow for extended time in the sun. Thanks to the lightweight breathability of REPREVE®, Windridge apparel is perfect for training through summer temperature spikes. 

The Impact
Marmot impact
REPREVE® polyester helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels, utilizes waste, and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. 

It is backed by peer-reviewed LCA data and traceable through UNIFI’s verification systems, empowering Marmot to tell a transparent, credible sustainability story to consumers.


“REPREVE delivers performance, durability and comfort,” says Meeks. “As a brand at the forefront of sustainability, we’re now looking to embed circular polyester alongside recycled polyester in future collections. Our partnership with UNIFI enables us to explore and expand our sustainable offering.”
